Dream Spain - Why choose property in Murcia
1. Great Property Prices

Property in Murcia is still 16% cheaper than property in the rest of Spain. Murcia has been called the “Cinderella coast”, overlooked by tourists and property buyers alike in their quest for a place in Spain. Now however, Murcia is coming into its own and the foreign buyers market is discovering the delights of a region that has so much to offer. It still presents better value than some of its bigger sisters along the coast.

2. Transport Links

Five or six years ago, the only airport in Murcia was used solely by the military and you had to fly to Alicante airport and face a long journey down a winding coast road to reach the coastal regions of Murcia. Now the local airport called Murcia (San Javier) has been opened up to commercial flights and you can fly quickly and cheaply from a multitude of airports across the UK. If you do decide to fly into Alicante a new motorway links the region and the journey takes under an hour. Not only this but there is a new international airport under construction 10 minutes outside of Murcia city and planning in the pipeline for a fast rail line to provide quick links to Madrid and Barcelona. It is not hard to see that this area can only become more popular as more and more visitors arrive and fall in love with what they find.

3. Climate

The Costa Calidá means the “the Warm Coast” and it is not called this without reason. The area is well known for its mild climate and enjoys in excess of 320 days sunshine per year, making it a popular destination for holiday makers in both the summer and winter months. During the summer the temperature rarely falls below 30°C (86°F), and winters are very mild with averages around 18°C (64°F). Even in the coldest winter frost is unknown, and snow is restricted to the mountain tops.

4. Golf, Sports & Spas

Talk about Murcia and it is impossible to ignore the fact that soon it will challenge the rest of Spain as the golf capital. With Polaris World alone building 6 championship courses within a 28km radius, and approximately 20 more courses planned or under construction, the area will be a haven for the keen golfer. Not forgetting, of course, that the region is already home to one of the most famous European golf and sports complexes “La Manga Club”. Many of these golf courses also provide additional sporting facilities such as

tennis, squash and football. The Mar Menor is a water sport enthusiast’s paradise. This shallow calm sea is ideal for swimming, sailing, wind surfing, kite surfing, jet skiing, snorkelling and scuba diving. Around the Mar Menor are clubs where you can find an instructor or hire the equipment you need.

The water of the Mar Menor has been renowned since Roman times for its healing properties and both traditional and modern Spa´s are available. In Los Alcázares you will find the spa baths dating from 1904 - still in use today.

5. Quality of Life

The Murcia region is a fantastic place for a holiday, but it does not exclude those looking for a place to live permanently. Its climate, air quality and the high mineral content of the water have led to it being recognised by the World Health Organisation as one of the healthiest places to live in the world. It provides an environment which suits all ages and it is not hard to see why families from all across Europe and of course from across Spain, are choosing to settle in Murcia. Far from becoming a “Little Britain” the area is retaining its Spanish flavour, with foreign residents integrating into the local community.
